Today a printer decides the start and length of blanket washing by taking a copy and proofing print quality visually. With bad print quality or register problems he activates a printing unit washing sequence. If the ink or dust accumulation has advanced too much and if the washing device is unable to clean the blanket, the machine has to be stopped for manual cleaning. If the accumulation has advanced too far, the blanket must be changed. Printers are familiar with both situations and know, that they cause loss of production.
